Street Planters

From time to time, planters and flower beds around the ward need a bit of care and attention to keep them looking their best. The ECA organises volunteers to tidy, de-weed and replant them, rotating around our parks, council flower beds and the district centre.

If you can spare an hour or two, we'd love your help.

Here's the plan

You bring

An hour or two, and some gloves

Just come along on the day. No gardening experience needed, all abilities welcome.

We bring

The plants, tools and organisation

Plants, compost and tools are all provided, along with someone to point you in the right direction on the day.

This builds on point six of our Six-Point Plan, cleaner alleyways and greener communal spaces, and the progress residents have already made turning neglected spaces into ones the whole community can enjoy.

Keeping them thriving

After one round of replanting in the district centre, we asked nearby shops and businesses for a small favour: keeping an eye on the new plants and giving them some water when they can, particularly in warmer weather. Keeping planters looking their best is a community effort, and a little help from everyone nearby goes a long way toward making sure new plantings thrive.

Upcoming planting sessions are listed on our events calendar, and we post a reminder on our official Facebook page ahead of each one.
