Delivering For Edgeley

What We've Achieved

From a long-fought-for Article 4 Direction to new play equipment in Alexandra Park, here's a flavour of what's been delivered for Edgeley and Cheadle Heath recently. It's not the full list, just a sense of the difference independent, accountable councillors make, week in, week out.

Recent achievements

Article 4 Direction passed

After years of campaigning, the ECA has passed a resolution for an Article 4 Direction removing automatic permitted development rights for new HMOs in Edgeley and Cheadle Heath, and we're now pushing to see it fully implemented.

Speed Indicator Device rolled out

A rotating Speed Indicator Device is now live at locations across the Ward, giving drivers a real-time reminder to slow down and building the evidence base for further traffic-calming.

Alexandra Park's climbing frame funded

After the much-loved spider's web climbing frame failed safety checks and had to be removed, the ECA secured funding from the Council budget to replace it.

Stockport Station improvements secured

Following concerns raised by ECA councillors over the station's condition, Network Rail announced a new pedestrian bridge to the station, backed by £4m of Government funding.

Highfield Street enforcement action

After the ECA raised concerns for over a year, the Council issued a formal enforcement notice requiring Highfield Street's historic cobbled surface to be restored.

Rose Walker Centre redecorated

Funded by the ECA Community Fund and powered by local volunteers, the Rose Walker Centre on Essex Avenue was given a fresh new look.

This is just the start

All of this comes from the same six-point plan candidates campaigned on in 2023, and there's plenty left to do. Your support helps us keep going, all year round.
