Your Edgeley Ward Councillors visited Weir Mill as it starts opening up to tenants and the public today as a stark reminder of what regeneration looks like for Edgeley.
After planning was approved back in October 2021, this project saw we believe £60m invested to stop a historic, Grade II-listed mill from rotting away into complete dereliction.
Over the coming weeks, 250 or so apartments will fill up, adding hundreds of new residents to Edgeley Ward. That is a significant influx of people into our area, bringing direct footfall and life back to a key part of our local boundary.
For existing Edgeley and Stockport residents, the gain here isn't just housing - it’s the new public space, riverfront access under the viaduct, and commercial amenities on the ground floor.
We encourage residents to visit over the weekend as it all starts opening up - it really is impressive..
