But time & time again in Stockport, we are seeing important local issues being delayed, messed up or kicked into the long grass.

Take dog control and anti-social behaviour. We have discovered this week by performing an investigation that the council carried out a public consultation in 2025, but the Lib Dem administration have since sat on the results for over a year. In the meantime, the previous Public Spaces Protection Order has been allowed to lapse. It's no longer enforceable.

That means the Police & Council currently don't have the legal powers they need to deal properly with anti-social behaviour in our parks. And because the administration failed to act, it is likely that public money will have to pay for another consultation on something residents have already been consulted about.

And this isn't an isolated example.

Residents around Edgeley Park have been asking for a proper solution & review to matchday parking in Edgeley for years. Yet it is still stuck. Paint & signage that has been unenforceable on residential streets within the existing zone reported over the off season hasn't been actioned.

The council is facing interventions from Govt over planning, measures such as Article 4 Directions to protect family housing from unchecked HMO conversions have taken years to sort. Stockport has built the minimal amount of homes necessary as proven in statistics.

At the last Full Council meeting, the Lib Dems had the nerve to accuse opposition councillors of wanting to waste public money.

But what about the money being wasted because of their own delays & incompetence and repeated and failure to get things done in the interests of the Borough?

Residents don't expect miracles. They expect the basics to work & service in the interests of the Borough.

They expect a council that listens, makes decisions and delivers.
