At 10:30am on 11 September, Stockport Central Fire Station will become fully operational, with crews deploying directly from the new station after being based at Whitehill during the construction works.

A few years ago, there were plans for there to be no future for a fire station in Edgeley and Stockport town centre. Following strong lobbying, it was fantastic to see GMFRS and the GMCA recognise the need for a new station and commit to delivering it.

With existing and future high-rise developments in the area and Stockport’s population set to grow significantly over the coming decade, having a modern, centrally located fire station is more important than ever.

We warmly welcome Stockport Central Fire Station and look forward to the open day, which is due to be announced in September, giving residents the opportunity to look around the new station.

A great result for Edgeley and Central Stockport and, most importantly, for the safety of our residents.
